Meet an ASPI Member: Printpack
Printpack, Inc. is a flexible and specialty rigid packaging company headquartered in Atlanta, GA. With 18 locations globally, Printpack supports the packaging needs of a diverse range of markets. The company's main products supplied into the paper industry are towel and tissue overwrap and ream wrap for office paper.
One of the first things a visitor to the company's homepage (www.printpack.com) is the phrase "Converting Vision into Value," which appears directly beneath the corporate logo. It's an idea that seems to carry over into Printpack's involvement with ASPI. "We joined ASPI two years ago and very quickly came to appreciate the value offered by the association," says Market Development Manager Dave McLain. "From networking to industry updates, the Spring Meeting has come to be a can't-miss event for us!"
The privately-owned company was founded in 1956 by J. Erskine Love, Jr., who is quoted as saying this about the Printpack's history: "We had one employee and one piece of equipment. I was the employee and the equipment was a used cellophane bag machine... We rented space in the basement of an office in Sandy Springs and, in every sense of the word, we were truly basement operators. But we were able to survive..."
Today, the company provides a range of custom packaging solutions including medical packaging, rigid containers, flat-bottom and premade bags, and roll stock. The company remains focused on innovation, and values close relationships with customers. In May 2017, Printpack received a Gold DuPont Award for Packaging Innovation for its new, cross-directional, laser-scored flow wrapper for Quaker Oats' Granola Goes Nuts bars. Printpack shares this award with PepsiCo, with whom they jointly developed the technology.
Printpack's relationship-building values and its drive for innovation make the company a great fit for ASPI. "I look forward to collaborating with other ASPI members in the future," McLain says.
